Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology to advance health care treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering of HSU offers an array of research and training opportunities for graduate students with experienced professors. The main areas for the M.Sc. and Ph.D. are as follows:
- Processing vital signals
- Processing of medical images
- Sound and speech processing and design of speech therapy systems and accompanying assistance for the speech disabled
- Modeling of biological systems
- Designing electronic parts and controlling artificial organs and organs and making rehabilitation devices
- Registration of vital signals and design of hospital monitoring systems
- Physiotherapy and chiropractic equipment, radiotherapy equipment and lasers
- Designing and manufacturing medical treatment and laboratory systems
- Designing and optimizing imaging systems
The Department is equipped with laboratories such as precision instrument laboratory, microscopic image laboratory, digital image processing laboratory, medical electronics laboratory, vital signals laboratory for scientific experiments, research, or teaching and the one site for performance the master’s and doctoral students’ projects.
